Wee T-ball 2010 is underway! Jason and I are both coaches this year, along with my childhood friend, Tom, and Grant's new buddy's dad, Gary (hey, hey - you made it in the blog!! Glad you read!). If you would have ever asked me when I was 3 years old if I would be coaching our kids' ball team together with Tom...yea, nada... and here we are nearly 30 years after becoming friends!
Stillwater doesn't offer coach pitch until they are 7 years old; just t-ball either through the YMCA or the Parks and Rec league. Jason wanted Grant to stay in the Y league this year (it's the "easy" one, and the city league is much busier, competitive, and expensive) for several reasons. Plus, we play coach-pitch at least weekly, if not nightly, with our friends in the culdesac!
The team is the Panthers! There aren't official "home runs" but the last batter does run all the bases. Here is Grant sliding into home base on his home run. Boy, was his shirt nice and dirty after that slide! We were able to take these shots on the "sports" mode and have 7 shots of Grant on this particular at-bat - all of them except the last one with his eyes focused on the ball - it made his daddy so proud! My main job is to direct traffic around the bases, organize the team, and give high-fives. Robin caught me in the act here with Bretton! Jason and Tom - it's so awesome that they like each other as much as they do! Isn't Tom's hair hilarious (he's bald - it's a wig)!?!?!?
