new HEIGHTS

It's been a 2 year + search for our family, but last week, we finally joined a church family! Many of you know how Jason and I struggled to agree on a church home - he was gearing towards traditional-type services, and I lean toward praise and worship style but desire traditional things like communion and Lord's Prayer.... so we each found a church we LOVED!!!! they were just different churches.... so the search continued...

University Heights is the place! We have each "compromised" on a few issues but overall, it is the best place for us, and filled with the Lord and the friendliest congregation of any we have visited. And we've visited about 10-12 in Stillwater. We look forward to getting involved in a Sunday school class and various church projects.

Grant has learned a lot already in just a few weeks of school. Other than the fact he yells "Hi, Cindy Circle!" and "Hi, Oscar Octagon" at every stoplight and stopsign, most of it has been great! :) the most amazing to me was the following video. He learned the Pledge of Allegiance and the Oklahoma Salute (I've lived here 29 years and never knew such a thing) after just 4 days of school. Love it!

O-S-U

Fortunately, through a variety of mishaps and chances of luck, the four of us were all able to go to the OSU v. Rice football game using our club level tickets. Thanks, Rich and Sarah, for giving us two tickets! Thanks, nice family, for buying our Pistol Pete Partner tickets from us! We joined GG and Bubba and just had a super day. It was Kyle's first time in Club level, and Grant hasn't been since he was Kyle's age. Fun experience for all. Kyle was so wired and excited all day that instead of sleeping during nap time, he sat in his bed singing the OSU fight song for nearly 2 hours before we decided he wasn't going to sleep. They did great, and loved seeing friends they knew up there, too!

Best Things

Each night at bedtime, I ask Grant about his three favorite things from his day. Life must be excellent for this kid, and I'm glad to provide my son a lifestyle where he answers these tonight:
  • Eating ice cream with my friends (thanks, Garett and Emalee)
  • Riding bikes and playing with my friends (thanks, Garett and Emalee)
  • Having a fun family dinner together
  • Coloring pretty pages in that book with the ducks (a color by number book we have)
  • Listening to thunderstorms on the deck together

The blessings of childhood are countless, and I am so fortunate to share them through a child(ren)'s eyes again!
