Grant and his friend playing golf during a playdate.  His friend has played in a lot of tournaments and it sounds like he is quite the player!  Future Phil Mickelson?!?!
One of our summer to-dos was to have a lemonade stand, and one day after church, we hurriedly put one together and actually had a great time!  We pitched a tent in a vacant lot in our neighborhood and had some tunes playing.  Thankful for great friends, neighbors and supportive strangers who came to support them.  More than 50 glasses of lemonade sold and about 10 bags of Cheezits (that's one way to clear out our food clutter from bulk buying!).  10% of their earnings were returned to the church for their tithe.  Last I heard, they had both chosen to save the rest of their earnings.
We had a quick, fun trip to Dallas/Arlington this weekend.  We stayed with family two nights - one with the Colvins and one with the Hefners.  My cousin, Libby, and her husband drove up to meet us, so there were all three of the Hefner granddaughters there.  We are very outnumbered - 8 grandsons, and then 7 great-grandsons so far!  It was a great weekend full of (house offering) fun, (house couter-offering) sun, (house buying) baseball, and (listing our house) relaxing with family.  (we came home to finish decluttering our house and mowing the yard).  We went to the Rangers game with the OSU Alumni Association so there was a lot of orange in the crowd, too.  We ran in to two people we knew (a volleyball friend and a great buddy of mine from college) so that was fun!

Lovebirds still....

Jason's cousins had a reunion a few weeks ago!  This is the whole gang.  Three of them were photoshopped in b/c they were unable to attend, but fun to have a picture of all 12.  There are 2 stepkids that aren't in here as the cousin who photoshopped didn't have their picture.  It was a fun few hours!

20 Seconds of Courage

"At the Movies" series at church right now - basically, the pastor takes parts of a blockbuster hit from the past year and the sermon is based on it.  Yesterday's message was from Matt Damon's We Bought A Zoo.  Great sermon.  That, combined with three kids getting baptized, had me as a crying mess most of the service.  oh well - someone has to be that girl!  :)  The following is one of the movie quotes.  I love it.

pancakes

In real life, these two pancakes at Fair Hills were spot-on to look like Darth Vader and Princess Leia.  How fun are they?!?  The cook at the resort will make pancakes in to any shape requested, and I can just kick myself for never having my camera at breakfast.  We also had a Death Star, Cowboy riding a horse, horse, heart, Superhero and fish.

Fair Hills 2012

Fair Hills Resort is our "Family Happy Place" and we just finished up a week in Minnesota.  Jason has been there 7 years and the big boys have been for 5 years.  We drive in our car - loaded down with gear - for the 14 hour trip.  It's actually fun b/c we can bust out the traditional car games and goody bag surprises.  Here are my four shining men in the car!

The first shot: we take out a captain's chair in the car, which makes a big open area for random stuff, including our ice chest.  You can barely make out the new goody bags hanging in the back windows - G and K both had one filled with fun activities for their brains.  Each of them also took a turn riding in G and B's car, who led the way.  Reid, sweet Reid - all he wants to do is sit and read books.  He managed, the entire 28 hours we were in the car, to take 4 - 20 minute snoozes.  That's it!

Our drive takes us to Pelican Rapids, MN, which is just the cutest, most quaint little town.  We have an annual running joke that right across from the park where these pictures are taken is a dental office and we wonder if they need another doctor?!?!  :)  What can't really be seen in the tiny pictures is 1. Reid wanting to look at the water flowing - very interested 2. just overall picture and 3. Kyle (in blue shirt) only wanting Mommy to hold him.

Family Campfire night - the boys brought their dollar store shark hats again this year to help Mr. Larry perform the "Baby Shark" song!  Reid was also hamming it up in the stroller and trying to get the tennis ball container swallowed with his chewing on the tennis court.

These pictures are just in general of the resort. 1. the entrance to the resort 2. an aerial shot that I stole from their facebook page but I think it's beautiful and gives a hint of why we love it there 3. random pelican art on the resort 4. Sailboats on the shore 5. pretty flower! and 6. the lodge at nighttime

Lake pictures!!  1. Kyle and I are on the hydro-bike 2. G, K and I in a paddle boat  3. Jason and Kyle in a paddleboat and 4. the view from our cabin deck one of the first nights.  It was a beautiful, huge moon.  One thing that no one saw was I was daring this trip! :)  One afternoon when it was Jason's turn for Reid's nap, and the big boys were at the kid activity, I went to the lake and "paddle-boarded" or whatever it is called when you stand on a surfboard and paddle.  It was fun!  I did fall off once.  And, this was extra huge for me b/c I don't like being in water other than a swimming pool.

One (of the many!) neat things about this place is all of the "free" lessons provided throughout the week.  Sailing, swimming, tennis, golf, water skiing....  We decided Grant was old enough to try water skiing.  He was able to get up for a while on the side bar where they teach kids.  He loved it, but afterwards said his arms were so tired!  :)  Jason, too, took a ski lesson and we saw him (after several attempts! ha!) ski for a long time across the lake!  The other picture was just one morning in our bed!!!

We vacation here over the 4th of July holiday as it is easier with the family business to be away during a national holiday when we wouldn't be seeing people anyways.  So, upper left corner is a snapshot of the staff band that led the kids parade (our boys were "too cool" (not their words) this year to participate and stayed in the swimming pool).  The group kid shots were during the Kids Cruise when they're taken to "a deserted island" for some fun and then some "crazy pirates" (aka the teens at the resort) come and the kids eventually win the battle for the food.  :)  Our kids love it.  Then there is the one of Reid chewing the tennis ball container again for some reason, and then a shot from the Hootenanny performance by the staff on Tuesday night.

Family picture and then our picture after we went down together.  I do think the grass on my forehead should become a new fashion statement!

One big thing we like to do at the resort is to golf!  It's something that Jason loves to do but doesn't too often when he's home, and something that I really enjoy but only do at Fair Hills!  :)  Several different organized golf events for the adults are scheduled throughout the week.  We participated in two of them!  The top left corner is a group shot of those who did "Speed Golf" where you play the nine holes as quick as you can - and the group did it in 6 minutes and 59 seconds.  The other three are of those in our group as we went through the course doing a scramble.  Guess what?!?!?  The team of Hall-Walker-Hall-Walker won FIRST place in the scramble.  Whoo hoo!

While the kids are the their cruise, the resort has a Happy Hour event for the adults on the lodge deck.  These are just random snapshots taken that evening.  Both of the gals in purple were bridesmaids in our wedding!
