Red River

We love the mountains and in particular, we love the town of Red River. It's small but yet a lot of stuff to do, including spending hours upon hours (so days!) traveling in our buggy around different mountain trails. We headed off on our first family vacation without Grant - it was weird.
My folks joined us for the first part of the trip. They'd never been there!
This is at the fish hatchery in Questa. We took the boys here four years ago and it was a better experience then - better maintained and more fish biting!  Bit of a bummer this go around but still neat.
Red River partly shut down the weekend before we got there as most of Texas and Oklahoma had fall break the week prior. We found this cute and delicious diner we'd never been to for our lunch.
Sitting around the campfire at our house.
The next day we went to Taos as we'd never been. Probably won't go back - just a big town and a cute square but not as cute as Santa Fe.
Hit up this old mission for Mom.
Walls of the entire church - dirt and hay.
Back in Red River and Mom and dad left town.
We went shopping to nearly every store in town it seemed.
Our happy place - NM mountains in fall.
Greenie Peak. Last time we were here there was snow on the ground. You can see the ski resort in the background.
Midnight Meadows.
Jason fed the bird cheetos for about ten minutes. Poor bird kept coming back for more and it ended up slow. I get it, though - they're so addicting!
Cabresto Lake
You can see Reid and Kyle on the shore while Jason and I went on a walk.
We typically follow the rules. We had our insurance but we didn't have helmets for the guys. The age to wear a helmet is now 17 - Kyle LOVED that one.
Went on a new trail to Goose Lake. More challenging trail with a great lake at the top.
I made it this far up.
They went the extra 400 feet up to the top.
Finally getting Reid his smores!
Kyle doing his ACT class.
Pioneer Trail on our last day - also new to us.
Old mining house.
This might be my favorite picture from the trip.
See the road ahead?  So much dirt. It was so dry and sooo windy.
Jason thought of me when he saw this.... I couldn't disagree!
