Color!

How fun is this 1st grade classroom?!?!
Colorful, fun, inspiration!

If I would have ever had a daughter, her room would have been these colors.  They just make me happy!  Glad Kyle gets to be surrounded by upbeat surroundings 6 1/2 hours a day!

I love this picture for so many reasons.

1. just plain fun at the park
2. these three are growing up together as neighbors
3. I like their moms!  :)
4. I have a history with both moms from OSU!
5. The boys did a slide train all by themselves.

Farm Fridays

We have friends with 40+ acres on the outskirts of town (and it overlooks the entire city - pretty cool!) and they have started having Fridays at the Farm.  As you can see, we had a fun time last week....

Reid and Lakin - 3 weeks apart in age

Carley (2nd), Emily (1st), G, K
They found some mischief!

Reid found a s'more and just-perfect chair!

When my oldest two used to play with this phone, they never held it like this.
Wow, how things have changed in just a few short years!
SMILE!

We were given a Free Catering for 20 card from Chipotle.
What did we do with it?
Have a par-tay!!!!!
We have five families over and ate and played yard games and drank wine and were loud and funny and made some good memories!  Here is the spread.  Easiest party ever!
I'd recommend their catering services - very well packaged and prepared.

Big milestone AGAIN for Reid today.  Library storytime.  I attended this for about four years consistently with the boys, and then took a few years off while Reid became old enough to enjoy (aka behave!) the event.  He did great!

What was neat about it is that one of my good friends and I met there 4 years ago.  Here are our two little ones now and we're back for another round together again!  :)

Once a Bulldog, Always a Bulldog...

Welcome video from my high school to students.
(and, yes, the bulldog was put in the entryway when my group of student council officers were in charge!  :)  )

Reid goes to school!

My littlest one entered a new chapter of his life this morning - school!
He is enrolled at the same preschool where his brothers went, and when he discovered he had a lunch box this morning, he was so excited!
On the bench of the school entry area.  I have a similar picture of Grant in this spot.  I was going to post it but just realized it happened before I started blogging!  Ancient news  :)

Grant and Kyle were too busy and curious to go to sleep at school.  It may be that Reid entered the school a few months younger than his brothers, but after "being wide-eyed and fighting a nap, he finally fell asleep.  He had a super first day!"  This was the picture I found as I came to pick him up.
Melt. My. Heart. Sweetness.

Many thanks to Kristy for saving my morning!  After waking up sick and dizzy, she came to drive us to school as I didn't feel I could safely get there.  Thanks for being a true friend to me in a time of crisis!!  :)

3rd and 1st grade

Here they are ready to go at school!
My sweet third grader and friendly first grader and curious little man!

School starts at 8 a.m. thanks to some "wonderful" new ideas.  We were up at 6:50 if you are wondering about the puffy eyes - they're not fans of the time change!

Breakfast of champions - their favorite cinnamon rolls and fruit on our Your Are Special plates.

Grant got ready quickly and spent part of his morning making some jump shots.

Mommy's time to take pictures!
He has Mrs. Burnett this year, a previous neighbor of ours!

 He has Mrs. Tackett.

Brothers and best buddies!

I then went to wake up Reid at 7:20 and Grant had a sweet little chat with him.  I walked in to hear "all of those summer days where we hung out are over and I have to go bye bye now."  Pretty cute moment.

Back home - special time ahead for just us!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I took our annual school sign photo this year a few days early on Meet The Teacher evening to avoid having to deal with the crowds on our first day of school.  This is a great keepsake that I am so thankful to have luckily started when Grant was in pre-k and to continue it each year.
Weren't they just the sweetest little pudgy things not that long ago!?!

Mrs. Tackett (in pink) was Kyle's kindergarten teacher.  Grant's first grade teacher retired so there was an opening and Mrs. Tackett prefers 1st so she applied, and got it!  yea!
Lucky for us, he gets to have her AGAIN!  Only three students from his class are in there (the other two are girls!) so it will be a great year to make new friends yet feel comfortable already knowing his teacher.

Westwood is a great school, but one special thing about it is the Excel program.  It's usually just 2nd grade, but this year, EVERY class gets the help of an OSU education major for like 3 hours/day.  How great is that?  Plus, with recent redistricting, Kyle's class size is only 19.  Yea!
Grant's is 22, down from 25 last year.

This week

Blogging has become a little less frequent on my end... I do apologize!

We're wrapping up our last day of summer today and thought I would post about all of our simple fun we have had the past week or so.

This photo adequately portrays snack time for us.  Reid sitting at a barstool thinking he is as big as his brothers (please note the apples and carrots they all love to munch on! yea!)

Grant decided he would be "daring" and order something new at Hideaway instead of just the normal pineapple pizza.  So what did he pick?  Pineapple and BROCCOLI!!!
(on a pizza?!?  Ewwwww)
He decided after eating a few bites that broccoli is not supposed to go on a pizza.  Jason's ritual pepperoni, feta and green chili is the other one.

We drove to see our cousin on his birthday.  They just built a chicken coop and Reid loved to explore.

My sister-in-law, Anne, had a medical emergency so little Jacob got to spend some days (and is continuing to do so) in Stillwater.  He was able to ride home with us and play with his cousins for a while before heading to GG and Bubba's to spend the night.

Don't be fooled by Reid's happy grin - he did NOT like having a little baby around and having to share his toys in his room.  :)

Kyle reached a score of 510 on the duck hunting game.
(I am not sure if that is good or not - he just had Grant take a picture with my phone so I thought it would be important to put on the blog for him!)

Grant did some science experiments with his grands.

Reiders and I spent the whole day outside playing in this ahhhh-mazing August weather!  He now loves to grab a hand and say "box. box!" for the sandbox.

Westwood work day

Three families joined up last night to pick weeds, rake leaves, plant flowers and shrubs, and just generally tidy up the school a bit!

Funny photos

Grant and I are easily entertained.
We had a lot of fun laying in bed one night and exploring all of the different ways to take photos with my camera.
This was his favorite:

 This was Kyle's favorite!  :)

We have had some fun lately!
A very riveting tennis match (where I finally sat down after having to go get nearly every ball as it was hit over the FENCE by Kyle.)  Kyle improved his control after some time working on the tennis wall.

Grant placed 3rd in the Junior Golf Tournament and got his very first "own" trophy.  This one he worked for and was so proud!

He and his buddy, Max, tied.  1st and 2nd place went to some older boys that we don't know.  These two were some proud and happy kids!  Thanks, G and B, for enrolling them for this great activity!
This has been my life the past few days!
Westwood PTA Treasurer... Enrollment day.... Tshirts.... Membership...
Lots and lots of money to count.
Jason was helping me last night, and I said "I am such a dork because this is actually really fun for me" and I think I got an eye roll!  :)

Birthday party fun!  Kyle and Bodey built a huge fort out of nearly everything they could get their hands on at this party.  Love creativity in an active environment - best of both worlds!
