Fort Morgan, Al

We did a first this year for vacation - a beach vacation!  We have done the California coast for a few days with my parents but it was in November and not quite easy swimming weather.

We joined with the Bales and the Coils and took a chance on Fort Morgan, Alabama.  Great choice!  Great beach and not a big crowd.

Preparing - Lots of cookies!

We stopped in Fort Smith for dinner and listened to live music while eating some Mexican.

The Bales were only five minutes behind us so we had a late night frozen custard snack before going separate ways to hotels.

Mobile!  The picture doesn't do it justice - huge, swooping trees.

We took the boys to the USS Alabama battle ship.  Jason and I enjoyed it more than they did.  Really makes you appreciate soldiers who spend months on these things.  Eek.

We then traveled to Dauphin Island and rode the ferry to Fort Morgan.  Just for the experience rather than taking the highway the whole way.

We made it!  A huge table for all of us. A great view!

The Coils and our family went to Gulf Shores for a day.  We hit up LuLu's (Jimmy Buffet's sister) restaurant and it was really good, even for a tourist trap.  We rode a lot of go-carts.

Julie, Terrence, Owen and Grant headed back.  We took Bailey on a rode trip to the Alligator Farm.  Kyle was already tired...

This was a pretty cool place.  Reid really enjoyed the variety of animals and really had no fear with the snakes.  Eek.

The guys at the far end of the park in the swamp were huge.

Back at the beach.... fun was had by all!

Our house is the gray one.

Anna and Elsa even joined us we were having so much fun!

Triple date night!  Pictures on the balcony before the adults headed out.

We went to a great restaurant and Jason tried oysters for the first time.

Our last day on the beach may have been my favorite.  Storms were moving in (you can even see rain in this picture) so there were very few people.  Unfortunately, it also brought in jelly fish to the area and several from our group were stung.

So why was it my favorite?!  We were just completely relaxed and happy and goofy.
A great day.

Goodbye, Fort Morgan!
