50th Anniversary Fair Hills

Mom and Dad were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in May. To celebrate, they wanted the family to go to Fair Hills together, and our crew was up for the fun!
What a special memory and honor to be able to celebrate them.
Despite its size - it can't load as much as the Odyssey did - so we used tubs on the outside.
Jason wanted to "stop by" Rushmore on the way up (total opposite side of South Dakota) and we're all glad we did. Very clean. It was crowded but it was due to a citizenship class completion and there were immigrants turned citizens everywhere.
They're so funny...
Able to check out the Badlands on our way.
Nothing like taking a 1.5 hour break at the Ford dealer.
They had a soda fountain and old school video game so it was pretty fun.
Kyle on snap.
McDonalds for lunch and a random large statue!
Subway in Fergus Falls and then on to Pelican Rapids!
It's been redone in the past two years and it sounds really pretty now.
Reid reading.
Reverting back to childhood...head out the sunroof.
I decorated their cabin for fun!
Disney is NOT the happiest place on earth.
A pretty day at Fair Hills quite possibly could be it.
Kyle making himself right at home - clothes on the floor within minutes.
our view out at the lake
My dad. My choice. My firstborn.

beautiful bluebirds everywhere and Jason played their noise and YouTube. This one was ticked off there wasn't another bird and was angry at us.
so we fed him cheetos. All good.
Cardboard box boat building contest.

They got 2nd. A dad helped engineer the winning one tho - not quite 8-14 mindset.
Red tower time!
pretty flowers
Kayak across the lake. All of us but Grant went out.
"Do this jump, Reid"
Best picture of the trip.
Totally random after an event - so glad we took it!
Closest to the Pin - all of the boys participated.
Jason got 2nd place behind John!
More jumping...
More raking the volleyball court...
Hootenanny!
Tuesday night victory celebration at the Perch!
selfie on my phone
I tackled Jason and tickled him and Grant caught us
The whole trio of Walkers!
Reid took a sailing lesson! Always ready to try new things.
Lake jump with Dad!
All of our kids sang Karaoke!  And I missed some of it because I'd never been to this event and finally found them - SINGING - in front of people. So fun. Proud of their ability to "chillax" and enjoy.
Everybody did awesome skiing!
Only Reid did the torpedo rides.
I played some of my best golf - got a few birdies and pars all by myself!
This is the "He's getting ready to leave us again for five months...." selfie before he leaves to fly out from Fargo. So thankful for nearly 3 weeks together for him to relax and revert to civilian life a little.
Hobby Horse race!
This is a tradition - usually for first-time guests - but the Rec Director asked Grant to participate as he was fun and 19!
Jason was his spotter. He didn't win but it was a memory!
Jason and Grant's shirts read "I almost won the Hobby Horse race."
Always feeding the wildlife from the deck.
Where was Reid when all of us were playing basketball?!?
Oh yea - hanging in the bar area with the staff for HOURS.
social media interview :)
It was fun this year as six of the staff were guests during the week we often times went in past years. So we vaguely knew them and it was great to reconnect.
Friday waterslide - Kyle and Reid were on-time and the only ones there for maybe 10 minutes. They both got a lot of runs in before the other kids showed up.
So much rain up north - no beach along the deck.
Our ceramic treasures from a group activity. Reid is the vase, Grant is the truck, and I did the flower.
shape pancakes - a sailboat and a bear.
Reiders in the parade.
WINNERS!
WINNER!
Jason and I out sailing.
Dropped off in Fargo! Next stop, Denver and USAFA. Survival training summer session and Jump summer session - here he comes!
Got up to head off early on Saturday only to be met by Mr. Deer while traveling 85mph in South Dakota. So thankful to have been in the Dad Van and not the Mom Van. Jason was able to zip tie us up and nothing was leaking so we headed on south. (after taking it in today for estimate, it appears a lot of things are damaged - so extra thankful for a safe return home).
Mom and dad were a few hours behind us...
all the while, Mr. Eddie was being cared for by Reid's friends and spoiled rotten. So glad he wasn't in a kennel!
During the drive home, we encountered a lot of flooding. I-29 was shut for  many miles as were sideroads.
