“Pebbie” and Jimmie Boyd in Tipton, OK. Irma graduated from Tipton High
School in 1949. She attended Abilene Christian College and majored in
Home Economics. On June 22, 1952, she married the love of her life,
Kenneth L. Hefner. Together, they raised five happy and healthy
children. She was a faithful Christian, a dedicated member of Mayfair
Church of Christ, and a small group leader in Bible Study Fellowship.
Irma loved her family and put the needs of her children before her own. She was
involved in many of her children’s activities. Ken and Irma were instrumental
in starting girls' softball leagues in Oklahoma City. She was passionate
about golf, never giving up, and even earned a hole in one. Irma enjoyed
arranging flowers, played bridge with her friends for many years, and was known
for her hospitality. She loved making Christmas cookies with her
children, grandchildren, and neighborhood children. After raising their family,
Ken and Irma cherished their many traveling adventures together. Irma passed
her love of contemporary furnishings and the works of Frank Lloyd Wright on to
her family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh which
will be greatly missed.
