Sky Ranch Horn Creek UHBC trip

Our youth group, under the leadership of Tanner, took a fall break trip to Sky Ranch Horn Creek in Westcliffe, CO.  It was Tanner's former employer for several years before moving to our church. We had a group of 23 and loaded up in the two church vans.

I was the group photographer!

Cute pic with my biggest little!
As we were eating dinner the first night at the local pizza place, a group of stinky men came in to share the banquet room with us.  Turns out they are all firefighters and had been battling a fire just over the mountain from us.  Tanner asked us all to get around them and say a prayer for them - cool moment.

The first day was a service day to the camp.  It was tough stuff, a long day, and all in thin air!

The next morning we headed to town, primarily because Tanner wanted to go to the Amish bakery, the local favorite. The pointy peak over Grant's head in this picture is Horn Creek mountain, where we were staying.

The sponsors - Chris and Pascha, John "Gopher", me, Tanner

We were able to go ziplining - Grant's first time.

We hiked one afternoon. Only a small group actually made it to the top of the destination (I did not!).  Grant took my phone as, of course, he was one of the few to make it up.

I spent my time waiting on them carving the church initials in to a tree!

The recreation center at the camp was super fun. Grant was able to climb the rock wall several times and learned to really like it!

The shadow in the distance is Pike's Peak - went there as a kiddo!

The drive home - these kids were so fun. It was a small group, but a great group. Poor Tanner was tee-pee'd while driving the van home.
