Winter Park 2017/18

And we're off!
This is our first family ski trip to the rocky mountains of Colorado.

yay!
We were able to ski for four days this trip - usually we have only skied two days!
Day 1 - just afternoon skiing
Reid fell a lot (Jason and I made one run this afternoon with him - Grant and Kyle got in 6!)

he only had tears one time - he was skiing good but just not able to get back up when he fell.
Mostly, all smiles!
Day 2
Reid headed out for a day at Ski School
This was December 30th, which was also a Saturday.  It was also a record-setting day for high winds on the mountain - gusts of 90+ at the top.  As a result, there was a huge crowd and only half of the mountain open - long lines everywhere and icy windy in your face.
waiting in a line to start the day...

post ski school - he said it was fun!

I was trying to have a positive attitude this day, and mostly managed, but I did grab Reid after school was out and we left to go back to the condo early.  On the way, he decided to have a pretend football game in the snow.  Here he is tackling a guy...  :)
He wanted a picture with the polar bear
Jason took these when it was their turn waiting for the bus...
Grant's attitude about the day...
Kyle's attitude...
Finally home and snuggly on the couch watching Cars 3 and laughing!
Day 3
Good morning, fellas!  Waiting on our city shuttle to pick us up!  It snowed during the night and would continue until about 3 p.m.  HUGE, beautiful snowflakes.  The snow was my favorite part of the trip!
part of the village
it was all decorated for Christmas
Day two of school
even though it was still the weekend and a holiday, the lines were much shorter (no wind, just snow, so the entire mountain was open).  This was our favorite day!

my mountain man with icicles in his beard
another first - beer from the rockies in the rockies!

Happy New Years Eve!  No pics taken that night...
Welcome, 2018!
Day Four on the mountain - all together!
Reid was much more confident this day - and so very fast!

Mr. Stud tripped somehow and fell - it was funny!
the Village
Grant heading down with Reid

We went out that night to the best pizza place - it had a great atmosphere and even better food.

 January 2, 2018 - headed home
it snowed for us on our way out of town!
Reid found leftover hand warmers that were still warm and had his own personal heaters
We went to the Oklahoma State plane crash memorial site from 2001.  We had driven down I-70 a few times and never stopped.  It was small but perfectly designed and a great tribute.

almost home!
It was a fun trip with a lot of memories made! Thanks, Jason, for planning it.
