  • Grant finally lost a top tooth! He's been wiggling that thing for months and it was just holding on. As I was picking up Kyle last week, Grant's class walks by to go to recess at the same time, and he ran in with a huge smile and Kleenex in his hand. He was so proud! He pulled it right before his seat-work time, and was able to get the prized plastic treasure chest to put it in. This was his over-the-top goofy proud face!

  • Kyle "tests" everything. Everything. Whether it is looking at hinges to see how a door works to pulling Reid as far over while he's sitting to see how far he can lean before falling over, he is trying to figure out cause and effect. Which, in general, is a great life skill and will prove very helpful in high school and college science classes. But when he's "accidentally" knocking over Reid, it's not great. Story - Kyle hops in the car after school one day last week, and almost immediately Reid is crying. "What's up with Reid, Kyle?" "Well, Mom, he's crying." "yes, dear, but why?" (long pause) "well, Mom, you see, well, I kind of poked him in the eye." "you what? why?" "Well, Mom, it's just because I was just curious to see if his eye was hard or soft. And I found out it started out soft and then became hard." (Reid still crying). (me - thinking - DUH! It's hard because it's an eyeball and he only has two of them!). Reid finally settled down but he did have a red eye for a few hours! The next time I was loading Reid in his seat I noticed his baby mirror was broken.... Only to find out that Kyle wanted to know what it would take to break the mirror ... and he found out a simple kick would do the trick! :)

  • My Public Service Announcement - Hobby Lobby carts to not safely hold an 8 month old sitting. The little boys and I went last week, and I took Reid's cart cover and put him in it. On one aisle, Kyle starts laughing (shocker!) and says "Mom, look at Reid." Well, truthfully, I hear stuff like that a lot and since Grant and I were very intently looking for something, I didn't really want to look. Then Kyle said it again and I glanced back. Literally - breath taken away - Reid was falling over the edge of the cart, aimed completely head-down for the brown stained concrete floor (hadn't really ever noticed them before!) with one foot caught on his cover, not even the cart. The other foot was dangling in the cart's seat. Now I know why they have those straps in the Walmart carts... this one did not have a strap, and it's more narrow so easier for a kid to fall over the side. When I grabbed Reid and propped him up, he was smiling and happy! He has no clue he was t-h-i-s close to heading to the hospital! eek.

  • Volleyball has started up again! WHOO HOO! Santa brought me some knee pads, too, so hopefully my knees won't be so ugly this season. Also, for those who know or care,.... I got a pancake last game. :) it was fun!

  • Jason is loving, loving, loving having a solo dental practice. He is a good busy and still has his time to chit chat with his patients! Yea, Jason!!!
