Halloween 2012

We had a chicken (with a 101 temp a few hours before this).....
And Obi Wan Kenobi (who puked in the kitchen floor 4 hours before this)....
And our golfer who put his own outfit together 30 minutes before we walked out the door...
Grant isn't really in to the creepiness and scariness of Halloween, so I was really proud he decided to get dressed up and proud of what he created!  The other two just went along for the ride to the 5 houses we visited in our neighborhood, to GG and Bubba's, and to our former culdesac to see old friends.
This picture was the best I could do to get all three at once!
HEY! It's the first picture AND holiday on our new front porch!
We met up by chance with the only other family in our neighborhood - all the kids are almost exactly the same age so that's fun!
And this was too happy not to put on here!
So, yes, you can tell we have had the sickies going around our house.  Reid was sick Friday which kept us from our adult Halloween party, then I got it, now Kyle has it, and Reid has a nasty cough and fever.
GO WAY GERMS!
Other than painting, "we" (aka Jason) has been working on getting a perfect spot for the trampoline.  Kyle is our helper on projects and he is "holding the tree" while Jason uses the chainsaw.  I don't have a finished picture, but it looks perfect!!!
Faces FINALLY were painted at the last OSU game!  They were the last two in line and thrilled with the final product!

Happy Kyle!

How can someone have a bad day when this smile is waiting for them?!?!
Love you, Kyle Boy (as he now signs his school work from hearing it a lot!)

Thanks, Brent (BBJN photos), for getting these at the birthday party!

SPF changes

Interesting info from a SPF 75 purchaser!  :)

NEW SUNSCREEN REGULATIONS - BE THE FIRST TO KNOW
By Mary Radford RN, Director of the RF Connection
As of December 2012, the FDA will be enforcing new sunscreen regulations in an effort to help people stay better protected from the sun. At Rodan + Fields, we couldn't be happier about the new regulations. We've been on our soapbox for years and are glad the FDA is finally holding companies to a higher standard. Here's the 411 on what the new regulations mean for SPF:
  • Only SPF 15-50+: This is the range that can claim to reduce the risks associated with sun exposure. The days of SPF 90 are over - the highest you'll find is SPF 50+.
  • More effective broad spectrum sunscreens: Only formulations with proportionate UVA and UVB coverage can claim to be broad spectrum.
  • No more waterproof sunscreens: Even the best sunscreens are only water-resistant, so always reapply after getting wet.

Jacob Wesley

Our family welcomes our third nephew, and the first one on my side!  Jacob Wesley was born 10-11-12 (fun date!) and weighs 7.2.

We are moved!
OUT!
but not IN!
Here is a farewell picture of our family in front of the home we knew for more than 5 years, where we welcomed our last little baby and watched our oldest enjoy their toddler and early elementary years with wonderful friends and neighbors.

Reid has discovered "his" chair at my parents' house.
Mr. is singing "no more monkeys jumping on the bed" in this pose.

Flag Football 2012
Grant is playing flag football.  You can see him as quarterback on this picture handing off the ball to his friend Jacob.  They are currently 2-0-1.  The Yellow Eagles are all 2nd graders from his school - his "guys."

Pistol Pete Partner Party 2012
OSU changed the format of their party for the Pete's Partners this year.  They had an hour of literally nothing but talking and playing with the football players.  Grant took his ball around to several and asked for autographs - all by himself.  Kyle had a poster to collect signatures but he lost interest pretty quickly and simply wanted to kick the soccer ball with the players.

This guy - #7 - was awesome!!! He and Grant ran pass plays in the end zone for no less than 10 minutes.  Great guy (now I just need to learn his name!).

Kyle playing catch with a player.
Grant being totally unshy and confident!

12

Today marks 12 years for Jason and I as a couple!  12 years ago today he called the Theta house asking for Stacy Hall... who was unpacking her car from a weekend in Edmond... and we went on our first date to Eskimo Joes.  I was wearing a t-shirt and athletic shorts.  yes, you read that right.  (what was I thinking!?!?)

Love you, Jason Dean, and I am happy and lucky and honored and proud and blessed to have been with you through those years!

Moved!

As I just logged in to this account, I noticed the blog just surpassed 24,000 page views.  That's amazing to me - so for those of you who like to keep up with our family, thanks!

Right now, our family is living with my parents.  We are fortunate they built their home in Stillwater and finished this spring, with room to spare for the unexpected guests of a few weeks!  We closed on our home on Thursday, bought our new home on Friday, but it is occupied through next Saturday, and then we hope to recarpet and paint upstairs (boys' rooms) before we actually move in.  We are excited, though!
As Jason and I pulled out of our old driveway for the last time, we both got teary-eyed and cried a bit.  Great memories in that home.... Once we did our cry, the sadness cleared and we are pumped for the new place!  Anxious to put our own flare and update the finishings to this decade.  We hope it's going to be as great in a few years as we envision it will be for our family.

Funny story:  For about the past two months, I haven't really cooked many elegant, delicious meals.  1. it has to be clean and non-smelly while the house was listed 2. we were out of town for a while 3. started packing our stuff.  So, the first night we are at my parents, we fix salmon, green beans (from a can!), mashed potatoes, jello salad, and homemade rolls (that's what Grant calls them - really rolls from the store that we reheat in the oven).  The 7 of us finish dinner, and as he is getting up from the table, Grant goes "wow, that was the best meal we have had in several months since our house was listed for sale."  It took me a few seconds to really understand what he was saying, and then I (we all did!) died laughing because Jason and I knew it was close to, if not the entire, truth.
