Grant’s Life-Changing Weeks

Oklahoma Boys State
Saturday, May 28 - Saturday, June 4

Grant applied for and was selected for Boys State.  It is hosted by the American Legion and has a strong patriotic and military feel to it.  I'm still not really sure what he thought of this week as we had about 2 hours to visit between his arrival and departure times.

He was selected as Speaker of the House (3rd highest position) and ran meetings.
All but his selfie were Facebook pictures.

Listening to Governor Stitt speak (he also received 2 follow-ups from people asking him if he'd like to help with his re-election campaign).

He's the one in the dark shirt. Fun to recognize his shoes in a facebook post.

He was awarded a $12,000 scholarship from this event!
To say we are blown away, and a little surprised, and totally impressed are all true...

United States Military Academy West Point
Saturday, June 4 - Friday, June 10

Grant flew to Newark, NJ, and loaded the bus to USMA. One of the first people he saw was the Oklahoma Boys State Governor - in the glasses - what a small world!

We got four pictures from him all week.
1. The bus picture...

2. The "I am in my official outfit and getting ready to head out" picture

3. A picture on the campus with the Hudson River behind him.

4. The camouflage face before the obstacle course

In case you wondered where exactly it is - one hour north of NYC on the Hudson
I went online and being naive about where he was truly going, found some campus pictures.
Pretty cool facilities!
To read the history of this primary US military base from centuries ago to the leaders to come from within the walls,... it is impressive.

Pics he shared with us when he got home:

that's a freaking military missile launcher...

Leather portfolio and a leather "graduate" certificate.

United States Air Force Academy
June 12 - June 17

His group won the Ultimate Frisbee competition out of the 40 squads.

This is when I picked him up. Beautiful day in the mountains!

Dear Lord,
Guide Grant in the next several months as he applies and moves forward with his future.  Whatever his future holds, let it be one where You are glorified in his actions, where his skills are utilized, and where he is able to be his true self.
