Busy busy busy bees we've been the past two weeks. The adult activities include being a shuttle service, Jason working on 24 of the OSU mouthguards for the football season, my serving as the snack preparer for our church's VBS, organizing both the t-ball season and our adult softball league, and then playing in two softball games. Grant has been busy with swim lessons, VBS, and then an awesome soccer camp this week. Kyle attended his first VBS (and enjoyed the stage performance that goes with it!) and has been an awesome travel buddy with me as we go all around Stillwater doing piddly little errands that have to be completed but aren't any fun!
So Grant's soccer camp: a blast. We are discovering that he's quite the little player, and has developed a great sportsmanship attitude. Every day, they'd close with 2 scrimmages. Of the 10, he was player of the game 5 of those times!!!! Yes, we were proud. I just happened to have the camera this day - this is the coach talking about him. In this particular instance, his team lost 2-0. However, G went and high-fived everyone, including the other team, and was cheering everyone on.
The coaches are here through a program called Challenger: British Soccer, or something like that. They're from England (and Wales) and this is their summer job. Not only was a it fun to listen to their accents, but they were SO smart and great with the kids. Sign us up for next year!
Kyle and I went swimming one morning when Grant was at soccer. Here is he - not afraid of anything!!! The 5 foot diving board was jumped off at least 30 times this morning (with me treading water to "catch" him as he jumped).
VBS - they did the High Seas Adventure. here is Kyle in his class going over one of the lessons with Mika! he loves Mika!

Fair Hills - now you'll know why!
For those who have wondered why we annually (really, every other year) venture north 15 hours by car to Fair Hills Resort, check out the youtube video.
Jason just said "it's the middle of June. Only a few more weeks until Fair Hills!!!" So we decided to google it. and we're so ready.

Wee Ball 2010
Wee T-ball 2010 is underway! Jason and I are both coaches this year, along with my childhood friend, Tom, and Grant's new buddy's dad, Gary (hey, hey - you made it in the blog!! Glad you read!). If you would have ever asked me when I was 3 years old if I would be coaching our kids' ball team together with Tom...yea, nada... and here we are nearly 30 years after becoming friends!
Stillwater doesn't offer coach pitch until they are 7 years old; just t-ball either through the YMCA or the Parks and Rec league. Jason wanted Grant to stay in the Y league this year (it's the "easy" one, and the city league is much busier, competitive, and expensive) for several reasons. Plus, we play coach-pitch at least weekly, if not nightly, with our friends in the culdesac!
The team is the Panthers! There aren't official "home runs" but the last batter does run all the bases. Here is Grant sliding into home base on his home run. Boy, was his shirt nice and dirty after that slide! We were able to take these shots on the "sports" mode and have 7 shots of Grant on this particular at-bat - all of them except the last one with his eyes focused on the ball - it made his daddy so proud! My main job is to direct traffic around the bases, organize the team, and give high-fives. Robin caught me in the act here with Bretton! Jason and Tom - it's so awesome that they like each other as much as they do! Isn't Tom's hair hilarious (he's bald - it's a wig)!?!?!?

random kiddo pictures
Just a few cute pictures of the boys!
Kyle is at a crossroads: to nap or to not nap. I've opted for the naptime for two reasons: he doesn't fight it a bit, and it allows Grant and I to have some one-on-one time still. However, this leads to Kyle being very alert most nights still at 9 or 10. Jason and I have quit fighting his playtime upstairs because we know that he's just not tired yet. The other night as we went to check on the boys before bed, this is how we found Kyle. He had made a disaster in his closet (he got to pick that up the next morning!), but had packed his suitcase - and very appropriately, too. AND, he had brought all of his bedding to the floor and was zonked with the light on.
I think it's funny how he is still holding on to the suitcase, too. He packed a nice outfit, pajamas, socks, shoes, his loveys, a diaper and a pull-up. All ready to go! Not sure where, but somewhere...

of late
Our friend took some awesome pictures of my birthday get-together. Here is just one that made us smile! Thanks, Brent, for being such a fun photographer friend! Friend, first, of course!
This is Ashley and John Peters. They are friends of ours from Sunday School who have recently committed to travel to India for three years to do ministry at college campuses there. They did a presentation at church, and I wanted to take a photo so you could see them and also include their long journey and mission work in your prayers!
As the school year came to a close, I wanted to pass along a good idea that I stole from a friend. If your child's school is anything like mine, we get a TON of "treasures." (I don't really want 53 construction paper animals around the house). Grant and I went thru and we picked about 1 out of every 5 to keep and hang up. The rest were laid in to piles and I took pictures of them. Much easier to keep as a file on the computer!
Our good friends have two baby deer they are keeping at their house. They were brought in from fields, and this family is one that nurses them and takes care of them until they're ready for the world on their own. So, we took a walk to their house a few weeks ago and the boys got to feed them a bottle! so fun!
