Oahu - May 27-30

Reid had the window seat flying to Honolulu. He spotted Pearl Harbor out the window and flipped out. He was genuinely thrilled.

One of Kyle's famous UFC guys practices here. He wanted to stop and take a picture.
Celebrated Reid's birthday dinner at Hard Rock Oahu!

Our first morning in Oahu started at Pearl Harbor. This kid's trip was made by this visit.

I got a text as we were sitting in Maui awaiting our flight.
"hey coach, where are you?"
"Hey! We are on vacation."
"where?"
"Hawaii"
"that's what we heard and we are heading there this afternoon! Can we meet up?"
So we met up with Allie and her precious family (also our friends!) for a fun adventure and dinner in Oahu. We were staying at neighboring hotels!
Post-covid, reservations are required for Diamondhead. We got them they day they became available and even though it was an early morning, we're glad to have done it at dawn.
Sunrise with JW waiting on the gate to open at 6am!
The view from the top! Kyle had to run back down to go to the bathroom so he missed the family photo.
So many stairs...

Trying out the famous Leonard's malasadas for breakfast.

We were able to connect with an incoming USAFA cadet from Oahu. She and Grant were two of the first cadets to receive an appointment in November.  She had a great family and will be a diver for the Falcons.  We met their family on the base and played a game of minigolf. They have one older son but the other two kids were 16 and 12!

From the drive to the Air Force base... we hope Grant will be stationed there  :)
Dole Pineapple plant - the boys did the world's largest maze!

Delicious pizza on the north shore drive. It was called Spaghettini and was right down the street from where shaved ice was created - at Matsumotos.

The following are scenic pictures from the north short of Oahu. This was Grant's favorite part of the trip.
Back at the resort for our final night. Beach (ending the day with a rainbow) and resort pictures.
We had a looooong travel day home but it made our tickets affordable so I'd do it again. It was 27.5 hours from my wake-up to when I got home and I slept about 15 minutes of that on our final flight. Reid and Kyle were able to sleep nearly anywhere.
Meanwhile, back in Stillwater, this fella was celebrating his time with his grandparents who spoiled him rotten.  :)
