More Threes!
Here are a few more pictures to add to all of the birthday celebration photos below! This first one is from the children's bulletin board at church - he was so proud to see his photo on the wall! So, of course, we had a to take a picture of it! He had his school birthday party on Thursday. After the cookies and stuff, he got to dress up in an astronaut outfit and climb aboard the "shuttle" for take-off! It is just the best preschool ever (outside of Fresno, CA, of course, Stace!) - some days I wish I could go back and play "home station" and "animal station" and everything else... So if he ever works for NASA, we have a cute photo to send along...
Party and Play!
We had scheduled a family birthday party yesterday for Mr. K to celebrate his birthday, but due to the snow, sleet and ice that fell on Friday, we had all cancellations but from my parents. So, we still had a cake and his best friend's family came over to play! Then, we all went outside and hopped on the back of our neighbor's golf cart and baby swimming pool and went sledding. It was SO fun!!!! This was great snow for playing in, and we had a tall snowman, snow angels, a snow fort, snow letters, sledding, snowballs, etc... All Things "S", I guess!
It turned out to be a great day for Kyle but just different than planned.
Here he is taking a break on his Tonka truck.
Celebrating his day in a yard across the street.

Smile
Today, I am exhausted. Just physically tired and worn down and ready to nap... But you know what? I have a huge smile on my face! There is just happiness in my blood today. I can't pinpoint its source, but a few things that are making me happy:
- I slept in Kyle's room last night, and within a period of like 10 seconds, I experienced a most overwhelming love, a huge annoyance (he kept talking!), pride, tiredness, and an explosion of gratitude and joy. Super fast, all at once. I wanted to leave, and go to my own bed to sleep, but he kept giving me sweet kisses and rubbing my arm and cheek. Couldn't leave. And now I am tired!
- My Bible study and church. It's all so great.
- The sun is shining!!! Seems this winter has been dreary, and I've missed the sunshine. But, it's here today for a few days, at least. Get outside!
- Excitement at upcoming decisions and actions that Jason and I are taking to get a new lease on our lives, as both individuals and as a couple.
- Personal goals are getting met!
So, as much as I wish I was cuddled in bed, these sleepy, scratchy eyes are going to keep chugging along and enjoy this day that God has made - live and rejoice and be glad!

Mean Bugs
This has become a new favorite (totally wrong word).... um, how about most common? frequent? totally annoying phrase that I've learned to repeat lately?!? yup, that's it....
def: Mean Bugs (adj/noun) - description used for the things that have entered into my child to make him constantly back talk, interrupt, hit, pout, scrunch his face, yell "no" to his parents, refuse to turn off the TV, decide to not share, etc, etc, etc....
used in a sentence: "Grant, where have these mean bugs come from and how can we work together on getting them out so I can have my nice son back?"
Not sure what has happened - I think in part, it's a complete refusal to take naps anymore (I just want 2 a week!) and he is so tired, and partly a bad influence at school, but either way: where did my sweet child go!?!?!
Regardless, beware: IT'S AN INVASION OF THE MEAN BUGS!!!

Road Trip
Our time in our town had proven two things (among many but just sticking with two for this post): that it's a great place to raise a family because there are so many opportunities and so many young families here and the other is that many of those people are already established in their groups....
That being said, it proved challenging when we first moved to make a strong connection with other moms. Either people weren't warm and friendly, or if they were, most already had a group and didn't need others around. Nice, huh!?! (yes, EG, it's true, if you move!)
But, then I met Arica, who invited me to a playgroup and we just hit it off! Then came Kristy... and these two are two of my closest friends in town. Sadly, in December, Arica's family needed to relocate.
Yesterday, thanks to Dr. MLK, the older kids were off of school, and Kristy and I piled in our minivan and spent the day with Arica at her new home and let the kids play! It was a nice getaway for the afternoon. Thanks, A, for being such a nice hostess!
Kristy and I also both decided that having 4 kids together in the car all talking at the same time and then deciding to talk louder so they can be heard.... every where you go... might be a little much. She'll stick with her three, and us with our two.
Here are the kids on the way to the park. We walked... a total of 3 lots away from their house! Here's the moms - thanks to Grant and Mason for so generously offering to take our photos.

After we left their house, we made a special trip to go see my great aunt. And she is GREAT! All four kids had a nice time at her home, and loved the special treats she gave to them. She is one of the most fascinating people with so many stories and collectibles. We learned yesterday that she has traveled to 62 countries.... Kristy and I decided we can't even name that many... not even close!
VAROOM!
We hit the Monster Truck Nationals last weekend. Not exactly something I was looking forward to until I became a mommy to two boys who both love cars.... let me just say it was fun! The program itself could have been shortened by about 30 minutes due to blah-blah on the microphone and a r-e-a-l-l-y long intermission, but that's okay!
This first shot was actually the last photo I took as this was in the Monster Truck freestyle event - and this one tipped over - the driver's first time in EVER and he's been driving for ten years! History, baby! Pretty fun to see and no one was injured.
This was at the beginning when all of the trucks were lining up and driver introduced, etc.

Celibacy
Celibacy can be a choice in life, or a condition imposed by circumstances....
While attending a marriage conference, Mark and Sally listened intently as the instructor told them about how it is essential that husbands and wives understand the things that are important to each other. He then addressed the men and asked "Can you name and describe in detail your wife's favorite flower?"
Mark knew he knew this one! He leaned over, touched Sally's arm gently, and said....
"Gold Medal, All-Purpose, isn't it?"
Thus began Mark's life of celibacy... :o)
